11 days in Bolivia, or an expedition to the Amazon and Madidi Park, Salar de Uyuni and to La Paz and Tiwanaku

La Paz - Rurrenabaque - madidi park - Uyuni - Alcaya - tunupa - Tiwanaku - moon valley

Bolivia is not just a travel destination – it is a world full of contrasts that fascinates and absorbs completely. It is a country where the monumental peaks of the Andes meet the lush jungle of the Amazon, and the endless salt flats of Uyuni contrast with the deep blue of Lake Titicaca. It is a place where the history of ancient civilizations still pulsates in the stones of Tiwanaku, and La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, pulsates with a unique energy.

We want you to not only see Bolivia, but experience it. Feel the raw power of the mountains, immerse yourself in the green heart of the Amazon, allow yourself a moment of reflection on the vastness of the Salar de Uyuni and experience the magic that hangs in the air over ancient ruins.

It's a journey that isn't about the number of attractions you check off, but the depth of your experience. We don't want you to rush ahead - we want you to feel the rhythm of this country, its peace and wilderness, its history and present.

In 11 days we will show you the essence of Bolivia – from Madidi Park to Salar de Uyuni – but without rushing, so that you can fully absorb its extraordinary atmosphere. A maximum of 8 people can go on the expedition.

What is missing

An expedition from the Altiplano to the Andes, to the heart of the Amazon

Take a unique trip to Bolivia, experience the beauty of the best piece of jungle in the entire Amazon, feel the spirit of the Aymara Indians on Lake Titicaca, and admire the picturesque peaks of the Andes.

Pre-Columbian culture

Explore the Tiwanaku civilization and the otherworldly ruins of Puma Punku and Alcaya. It was one of the most important Andean civilizations before the Incas and had a huge influence on later cultures, including the Inca Empire.

A unique ecosystem

Madidi Park is home to the world's greatest biodiversity, over 8,000 species of plants and 1,600 species of birds, that's 15% of all we know! Jaguars, pumas, caimans, howler monkeys, sloths, capuchins, capybaras...

Moderately difficult route

Exploring the Madidi Park is more demanding, river rafting, jungle exploration, night searches for jaguars or caimans, etc. We will spend an intensive day at Uyuni. The part around La Paz is for everyone.

1 - 2 day

La Paz, Valley of the Moon
and Tiwanaku

After reaching La Paz, we will first take care of acclimatization - with the right measures, the altitude should not be a problem. Then we will go for a walk through the historic part of the city, and we will admire its unique landscape from the *Teleférico* - a network of cable cars stretched over the entire metropolis. We will also visit the extraordinary Valley of the Moon, whose surreal rock formations resemble a landscape from another planet. Finally, we will try to solve the mystery of Puma Punku - mysterious stone blocks, a trace of an unknown civilization, whose technology remains a mystery to this day.
Early in the morning, we’ll take a 40-minute flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque to begin an extraordinary adventure in the heart of the Amazon. On this 5-day expedition into the heart of Madidi National Park, we’ll have an unforgettable experience in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. We’ll traverse the dense jungle, tracking the tracks of jaguars, tapirs, monkeys and countless species of birds. We’ll go on a night safari to hear the mysterious sounds of the forest and see nocturnal hunters in action. We’ll sail a log raft along the calm waters of the Tuichi River, watching pink dolphins and capybaras. We’ll visit local communities, learning about their culture and traditional jungle survival techniques. We’ll explore hidden lagoons, admire majestic trees and sample exotic fruits straight from the forest. This is an intense but harmonious experience that will allow you to feel the true wilderness of the Amazon. After returning from the expedition, we will spend the night in a hotel in Rurrenabaque, and the next morning we will return to La Paz by plane. You will find a detailed plan for exploring Madidi Park in the attachment below.

3 - 8 days

Rurrenbaque
and the jewel of the Amazon, Madidi Park

Day 9 - 11

Salar de Uyuni, Tunupa volcano and Alcaya

From La Paz we will head south towards Salar de Uyuni for a full day trip with an overnight stay in the largest salt desert in the world, which seems to be from another planet. In this vast white sea of salt we will visit the Tunupa volcano, rising majestically above the plain, offering unforgettable views of the surrounding area. We will also stop in Alcaya, where we will discover ancient Inca ruins, including stone buildings and tombs that hide the secrets of past civilizations. We will also visit the Train Cemetery in Uyuni, where abandoned locomotives and wagons create a surreal landscape, which is not only a testimony to history, but also an amazing photographic attraction. This is part of the journey that will allow you to feel the power of nature and discover the extraordinary places of Bolivia!
